2008-2009 "Who Moved My Cheese" Discussion Day 1

Question 1: In the first part of your reading of the book "Who Moved My Cheese" pgs.13-24, Kenneth Blanchard describes a variety of situations where individuals were resistant to change.  Please describe a situation that you have experienced or have observed where change has been a "REAL ISSUE"!  How did it make you or that other person feel?

a situation where I have had to adapt to change is in school. We have to always have a pass, we can not have cell phones in the building, and we do not have break anomore. I really dont like the homeroom thing its dumb.

A time when "change was a big issue" was when i had to move from Spooner to Park Falls. It was a change because I had gone to Spooner for 13 years and now I had to go to a new school, with new people. I changed because at Spooner I was shy and not very outgoing. When I came here I had to change because no one knew who I was.

This whole year is a change to me, all the rules that havent been inforced for the past 3 years are now being enforced. This whole homeroom thing isnted of break is cool at all i woul dway rather have the break. This whole year is  change.

A "real change" that I have been involved in was when my bosses had remodled the cabins at the Northern Pines. One family has been staying at the old cabins for 40 years. When they saw the changes though it was a big improvement they were very devastated. Making them unsure of if they want to keep the family tradition for 40 years going, because it wouldn't be the same.

A change that has effected a lot of people are the new policies and rules that are being inforced. First off I believe that the new home room is a complete waste of time. I think they should either eliminate it and let us out of school 12 minutes earlier or give us the breakfast break back. I know other people feel the same way about this.

I agree they are really dumb and its not going to do anything but make people mad. It is not really fair its just a waste of time to enforce everything.

I went from St. Anthonys to Park Falls High School and the only people that I knew were my St. Anthonys classmates, I was friends with those 13 kids since preschool. It wasn't until Sophmore year that I had to start making other friends. But I am glad I did cause the same people get boring real quick.

I also think the cell phone rules are dumb. I think the rules for them are being taken way to seriously.

THose rules were always there the reason why they weren't inforced was because Cindy was leaving. now we have a principal that cares it only sucks becasue we are seniors and it seems our priviledges were taken away with, work study and first hour study halls.

A Real change that i had to get used to was starting work at my new job (McDonalds.....ewww) It was alot different because at my old job, everything would close down and id be done with work by 7:00. But just last night i had to stay until 11:00 closing. It was very stressful...umm yeah

One of the most major changes i went through in my life would be moving from my home to here. Going from really hot weather to really really cold weather is really a big change. Especially the high school which has very diffrent and more strict rules then my old high school. But i think change is not always bad because it means you get to try new things and see new places, and that's ok for me.
